How to Cultivate Spaciousness — Practically and Mentally

ree

Spaciousness doesn’t happen by accident. If we want to show up grounded, generous, and magnetic, we need to intentionally create space — and then actively protect it.

I've already offered a few suggestions along the way throughout this series but I'd like to offer a slightly more comprehensive plan.

We’ll start with the practical:

🔹 Practical Steps to Create Spaciousness

  1. Block time with a purpose. Don’t just schedule “free time.” Decide what kind of spaciousness you’re inviting. Try blocks like Vision Thinking, Creation Time, Listening Hour (reading feedback, comments, DMs without replying yet). I try to keep Mondays for creation.

  2. Create “white space” rituals. Maybe it's a Friday afternoon with no calls, or a “slow morning” once a week (I do slow morning every day!), or maybe it's phone-free mornings or afternoons.

  3. Work in rhythms, not marathons. Adopt a rhythm that allows space to breathe and integrate — not just produce. I block free time between meetings so I can process and recharge.

  4. Make the start and end of your day sacred. Begin with your own voice, not your inbox. End with a clear stop — not a fadeout. I've improved a lot lately on my start of the day, but am still working on the stop/end of the day.

  5. Protect energy, not just time. Block recovery time after visibility activities, big client work, or emotional labor. I often forget to do that so let's call it work in progress.

🔹 What to Do with the Space You Create

If you're going to fight for this space, let it nourish you. Here are ways to use it:

  • Reflect on your mission and values

  • Reconnect with your audience’s deeper needs

  • Revisit old content or notes and ask: What still matters? What do I want to say now?

  • Let your thoughts wander — this is where new insights often emerge

  • Be still. Spaciousness is not the absence of tasks — it’s the presence of possibility

🖋️ Journaling Prompts to Anchor Spaciousness

  • What am I hoping spaciousness will give me?

  • What pressures am I currently carrying that I can lay down, even briefly?

  • What kind of creator or entrepreneur do I want to be — and what space do they require?

  • What would it look like to move through today unhurried?

  • What have I already done that deserves to be witnessed or celebrated?

  • What do I need to not do today in order to feel more grounded?

These reflection questions can help you recalibrate and shift from the noise of the outside world back to your own grounded presence.

Because here’s what’s on the other side of this:

  • More aligned decisions

  • More resonant content

  • More confident, easeful visibility

Spaciousness is what allows you to detach from the noise and return to your mission. And when you do, your marketing becomes not just sustainable — but magnetic.
